Songs of Innocence and of Experience

2011. Performance, 45:00 mins

Songs of Innocence and of Experience was a performance by Ben Judd, produced while on residency at the Wassaic Project, upstate New York. Actors used text from American political speeches, from which political references had been removed, as well as from interviews Judd conducted with artists on the subject of ‘community’. The audience were seated on bails of hay, which were moved into different configurations; the performers’ dances, which were based on Shaker dances, responded to these patterns.
