Ben Judd (lives and works in London) makes performances, moving image and installations that examine collectivity and participation, enabling different forms of communities to be explored in relation to site and context. He often works with collaborators as a method to develop self-reflexive folk histories and construct temporary communities.
Judd has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, recently including ICA, London; Victoria Gallery and Museum, Liverpool; Tokyo Opera City Gallery, Tokyo; The Barbican Art Gallery, London; Royal Academy, London; International Center of Photography, New York; Impakt Festival, Utrecht, The Netherlands; Sprengel Museum, Hannover, Germany; The Photographers’ Gallery, London; Kunstbunker, Nuremberg, Germany; Whitechapel Gallery, London; Rotterdam International Film Festival; The David Roberts Art Foundation, London; Zendai MoMA, Shanghai; Chisenhale Gallery, London. In 2019 he was awarded the Stanley Picker Fellowship in Art and Design, Kingston University, London.
